Of the eight Methods of Scouting, Troop 1532 uses 6 of them. Advancement and uniforming are not used for various reasons.
The largest number of youth on a camp was 60, on a three-day trip to Moab, Utah.
They have camped across Colorado, Utah, New Mexico and Wyoming.
Former participants have ranged widely in where they are today, including military, college, other jobs, or even jail. The clinics at Mango House have hired some former participants as medical staff.
Camps are planned more than 6 months in advance, to ensure best availability of campsites.
Every Scout Troop is associated with a Chartered Organization which may provide space, if not some funds or volunteers also. Most Charter Organizations are civic organizations or churches. Mango House is one of the only Chartered Organizations in Scouts which is not nonprofit.
The Mango House Scout vans have been stolen. Twice. And recovered. But since using The Club, they have not been stolen again.
Many of the adult leaders were Eagle Scouts (top award)
They have gone on ten to twelve camps a year for about ten years minus COVID year - over 100 camps total. And because they’re usually multi-night, it’s around 200 nights of camping.
